Whether you are an individual, or looking on behalf of a group in your Church.... if you're interested to know more about opportunity to do 'short term mission' or experience sharing your faith in a different culture.... feel free to contact us. Pete is happy to come along and speak in your Church meeting or join your discussion group. Maybe reading about my recent visit to Cluj in Romania will inspire you to join us in sending a team? Pete joined Paul King from near Manchester in visiting Cluj the 2nd largest town in Romania. Paul represents a charity called "Cross Roads". Our visit was organised by a lady called Vivi, she is T-mP's co-ordinator for Romania, and similar to Pete, works totally voluntary. The aim of our visit was to meet Christians engaged in social outreach work, to create a network as future partners with similar workers here in the UK. The highlight of our visit was an open evening where 21 attended. Wow.... what an encouragent.... to meet full time workers, part time workers and volunteers all committed to serving and supporting those in need. This proved to be a unique moment for them because culturally, people don't network like in the UK. Groups and individuals kept 'resources' to themselves. We met in the premises of "Rescue" who visit Prisons every 6 weeks along with a team from Denmark. In attendance were representaives working with Kindergarden children, elderly, gypsey families, young people, unemployed, drugs prevention for young people, sports, holiday camps and with 'special needs', including a specific project for Autism. Both Pete and Paul were encouraged by the willingness of people to work together. We were all deeply moved to hear testimony from Alina who is in a wheelchair. Her story is remarkable considering she was placed in a box when born, assumed to be dead. Only after three days when someone noticed a slight movement, did she receive any help. Alina is now a leader for other disabled, organising camps! Alina came to our meeting with Maria who has "invested time" into Alina - something which was a valuable lesson to us all. Remember.... if you, your group or your Church want to know more... feel free to get in touch.
