Partnerships in Action
Key to the work of Trans-mission Partnerships are "People partnerships". Not only do they create life changing experiences for those involved, but work done by the charity is practical, personal and real.
Currently a major partnership programme is being set up between Warwickshire County Council (WCC) and similar Local Government Departments in the region of Alba Lulia, Romania. Even in this 'Professional' partnership, the work will be based around friendships and 'people partnerships'.
Working in Eastern Europe can be challenging as we come 'face to face' with corruption. Through trusted 'people partnerships' we seek to avoid corruption to ensure it's those in 'real' need that benefit.
Partnerships can develop between skilled groups such as Schools, Churches, Sports groups....or simply through individuals who share a concern.
Partnerships are regarded as a 'two way street'. Not only for us in 'The west' to take skills and resources to 'The east', but when possible reverse the process. For example, we brought two Senior Surgeons from Ukraine to visit Warwick Hospital. Similarly, we brought Emily, Head of English in her school from Romania to Stratford upon Avon, to experience works of Shakespeare. Other visits have been made too.
Trans-mission Partnerships would like to network small groups also involved with Romania, Ukraine and Hungary. We believe that sharing resources, skills, experiences and knowledge is a positive way forward.
Through 'Parners in action', "win-win" situations occur. One example is our new work with YOT (Youth Offending Teams, Rugby) where young people refurbish cycles are part of their programme. Some of these cycles can then be transported to support children in remote villages in Romania. Likewise, through their arts programme, they could make murals which can be transported to Hospital walls or orphanges.
Partnerships can be powerful.
