Photo's from Poineille De sub Munte
Because Poineille is located in the 'Carpathia Mountains, we organised a fun event to raise money and collected toy cars for the children in that village. We arranged for local children in Warwickshire to donate their cars and formed a 'Car-path'. The target was 1,800 representing the approx number of miles from UK to Romania. We exceeded this and all the cars arrived safely in Poineille.
The photo's show the event in Stratford upon Avon and also children in Poienile receiving them. Emily decided to create a map of Ukraine with the cars which is shown on the photo's.

Many visits were made to Poineille before we were allowed into a special home for the elderly. Conditions inside were extremely poor with little or no resources. Staff often worked without salary but did all they could to support the residents, many of which were mentally ill. The photo shows the staff receiving two gifts that we took on behalf of 'Springfield Centre' in Stratford. Springfield supports people will mental illness and it was they who donated a video player with videos plus a special radio that can be wound up in case of poor electricity supplies.
Photo shows Shepherds arriving back from the fields with cattle. They are wearing traditional flower-covered hats.
Featured in our brochure is a young boy called Demitru. Having been deaf since birth, it was fantastic that we were able to create help him hear by organising treatment by an ear specialist from the UK who visits Romania. Demitru was then able to attend school for the first time and he was 13 years old.

This photo shows Demitru with his brother Stefan and parents Maria and Stefan receiving a gift from a 'sponsor' from UK who help support the family whenever a visit is made. Because Demitru's brother Stefan struggles with severe Epilepsy, a huge strain is put on the whole family. We are looking to "help the family help themselves" by purchasing a 2nd hand sewing machine for them to develop a small business and gain self respect.
